Finance Department

MANDATE

The Finance Department is charged with the responsibility of managing the financial resources of the Ministry in order to facilitate implementation of programmes, and ensure prudent utilisation and accountability by managing and applying scarce financial resources in order to facilitate implementation of programmes in the Ministry.

FUNCTIONS

  • Preparation and submission of financial management reports in compliance with financialregulations;
  • Maintenance of expenditure and commitment ledgers in order to ensure accountability for public resources;
  • Collect and account for revenue in order to safeguard public resources and support to the treasury;
  • Update inventory of Asset Register in order to account for public properties;
  • Prepare and submit annual audited reports in order to facilitate decision making;
  • Facilitate the payroll management;
  • Cash management; and
  • Facilitate budget control in order to prevent budget misapplication and misappropriation of funds
