Planning and Information Department

MANDATE

The Department of Planning and Information is responsible for coordinating, planning and budgeting to ensure the effective implementation of the plans of the Ministry with its budget.  It is also responsible for coordinating the formulation and review of relevant policies and legislation and coordinating Cabinet and Parliamentary business matters in order to provide appropriate guidance. Further, the Department coordinates the preparation, review and monitoring implementation of the Ministry’s programs, Work plans and Annual Budgets. It constitutes of three (3) Units namely

  • Monitoring and Evaluation,
  • Projects, and
  • Information Technology

FUNCTIONS

    • Consolidating the Ministry’s budget plans in order to facilitate financial resource mobilization;
    • Formulation and/or review of the strategic and operational documents in order to facilitate policy
    • implementation;
    • Coordinate the formulation and/or review of policies and legislation in the media sector;
    • Oversee the effective implementation of projects and programmes in order to facilitate attainment
    • of project objectives;
    • Mainstream gender in all activities in order to ensure gender responsive programming;
    • Oversee the effective design and implementation of M&E frameworks in order to facilitate the
    • monitoring and evaluation of programmes;
    • Consolidate reports in order to facilitate informed decision making;
    • Attend to Cabinet matters and Parliamentary business in order to facilitate generation of information
    • for decision making;
    • Monitoring and Evaluating implementation of budget, programmes, policies, and Strategic plan;
    • Coordinating the preparation and implementation of the Departmental and individual work plans in
    • order to facilitate monitoring and evaluation of individual and departmental performance;
    • Coordinate and consolidate Ministerial Annual Reports;
    • Manage the documentation centre; and
    • Provide ICT services and application support and configuration services in order to facilitate seamless user access to ICT services and e-services; and Identify and resolve faults and their root causes and provide application software support to ensure availability of services through the applications
