Zambia News and Information Services (ZANIS)
Mandate
The mandate of ZANIS is to interpret government policies, provide accurate and comprehensive information to the public in order to solicit their support and participation. This mandate is executed through the Department’s
- Editorial,
- Technical Services, and
- Research and Information Units respectively.
Functions
- Provide news and information in order to inform the public;
- Disseminate government policies and programmes in order to create awareness on government interventions;
- Produce television and radio content in order to create public awareness;
- Maintain library and archive materials in order to provide information for reference;
- Provide public address services in order to support the coverage of events;
- Conduct research to gather information for decision making;
- Market ZANIS products and services to the public in order to create awareness;
- Develop and implement editorial guidelines in order to provide guidance for professional news coverage and information dissemination;
- Accredit local and foreign journalists to facilitate issuance of press cards to cover public and private events;
- Maintain and repair audio-visual equipment to prolong their lifespan; and
- Collaborate with other stakeholders in order to build capacity and share experiences.
