President Hakainde Hichilema today signed into law, the Access to Information (ATI) Bill, a landmark development in deepening transparency and accountability in the governance and development of the country by empowering citizens with access to information held by public duty bearers.
At the core of the Law is the need for pro-active disclosure of information by public office holders premised on the fact that as a servant of the people, Government is a mere custodian of information. Its true owners are the people to whom it is accountable.
